User Reviews about Emerson CKS3088T SmartSet Dual-Alarm Clock Radio with 4-Way Lamp Control
I purchased the Emerson CKS3088T SmartSet Dueal-Alarm Clock Radio because my son has an Emerson SmartSet clock, which is a different version and it is GREAT. If we have to unplug it for any reason, it automatically sets the time for you. The other Emerson automatically detects your time zone, this clock has to be "told" which time zone you are located. Either way, it is easy, you can see the time in the dark, and it play radio if that is your method of alarm or just for listening. -- Emerson SmartSet Alarm
I had an Emerson Smart Clock before, and I loved it except that the display was so bright, I couldn't sleep. I gave it away, and then found this one, and it's perfect! Just like the other one, it is so easy to use, AND it gives you the option to turn the display off altogether or automatically after 10 seconds without motion! Wave your hand in front of it to see the time again. The display is in red, so even when on, it is much less distracting than my old one.
Another great feature is the lamp dimmer. This is the perfect clock for bedside! Plug your lamp into the clock, and the clock into the wall. Tap the top of the clock for 4 levels of lighting from a regular light bulb. I sometimes have to tap twice for each level, and the level goes from low, med, med-high, high BACK to med-high, med, low, and then off. This is a minor inconvenience for an otherwise great product. -- Love this clock!
This is a very nice clock radio. Would highly recommend. The wave of your hand to go into snooze mode is terrific. -- Gret product
There are some reviews that claim that motion at night will cause you to accidentally turn off the alarm. This is no more true than pressing the snooze button on a regular alarm clock would turn off the alarm. The "wave" feature is only for snooze, so the alarm has to be actively going off for motion to affect it. You can also use a wave to turn on the display if you have the display set to off (probably handy if you don't like light in your room at night). The motion sensor it pretty sensitive. About 2 feet away, 140 degrees, level with the clock.
The buttons for turning the alarm off in the morning are tiny and very hard to find when it is dark and you just woke up. They are also roughly the same size and shape as the other buttons on the top of the alarm for setting the time and alarms. All the buttons are in a row too. Eventually you get used to finding the off button in the dark, and can do it pretty quickly.
The alarm is escalating so if you are sleeping lightly it won't jolt you out of bed.
You can set the time even though it "auto sets" itself. Yes, it comes set for EST, yes you can change it.
You can set each alarm for either M-F, Sat & Sun, or everyday. It is really nice not to have to worry about remembering to turn the alarm off on Friday and back on for Monday.

I was using my Bose radio (older model) as my alarm clock but my cat figured out how to wake me up in the middle of the night by turning on the music, changing the time, etc, etc. I tried putting it on my bed but it was too big. I had bought this clock radio for my other bedroom and it worked fine so I ordered one for myself. I'm VERY happy with it. Small enough to keep where I can reach it, easy to read. Overall I'm very happy with it. -- It's about time
