This is the greatest clock. We have counted at least 23 moving gears. It sets about 2" way from the wall and casts an interesting shadow as the gears move. It's fascinating and works just the way it should.

Well, that was what I thought at first but after having the clock for about six weeks, it stopped running. It would start again if you touched it only to have it stop again after a couple of hours.

I contacted the manufacturer as I was instructed to do by the seller only to have them tell me to try to fix it ourselves. Great customer service if you ask me. My husband has oiled it and it is again running but time will tell. Oh, Maples also told me I could return the clock to them but I would have to pay freight. That's almost as much as the whole clock cost originally. I am not a happy camper to say the least. -- What a great clock! NOT

When I first installed this clock around a year ago, it was nothing but trouble. The gear assembly would always jam up and it would stop telling time on almost a daily basis. I switched batteries, oiled the mechanisms, and nothing seemed to help.

Finally I gave up, called it a loss, and hung it in my basement stairwell for semi-permanent storage until I could come up with a solution.

One day due to some freak event (sunspots? gravity well? aliens? I have no idea what caused it to happen, actually) the clock randomly fell off the wall where I had hung it and fell down the stairs where I was storing it. I figured it was a complete loss.

BUT NO!

Suddenly, from that day forward, it worked flawlessly. The last 2 sets of batteries have lasted a few months each, and it has kept perfect time.

So, in a nutshell, buyer beware. The moving gear wall clock is a fun conversation piece and when it works, it works very well. Just know before you purchase that you might be getting a less-than-perfect item, and it may take some patience before it runs as intended.
